The south gate of Tsushima Shrine is said to have been donated by Toyotomi Hideyori and is designated as a prefectural cultural property. It is built in the Momoyama period style. The south gate collapsed in the Ise Bay Typhoon of 1959, but an inscription was discovered during its restoration, confirming that it was built in 1598. The cypress bark roofed, vermilion-painted four-legged gate stands out beautifully against the surrounding greenery, along with the main shrine building.
