Since its founding, the shrine has been deeply revered by successive generations of warriors and nobles, but in particular, the Oda clan, who hailed from Shobata Castle next to Tsushima during the Sengoku period, considered the shrine their tutelary deity and cooperated in its construction and other activities. Following the Oda clan, the Toyotomi family also revered the shrine, donating land and granting permission for its construction. The current gate tower, designated as an Important Cultural Property, was donated by Hideyoshi in 1591, and the South Gate, designated as an Aichi Prefecture Cultural Property, was donated by Hideyori in 1598 to pray for Hideyoshi’s recovery from illness.
Furthermore, the current main hall was donated in 1605 by Masako, the wife of Matsudaira Tadayoshi (Ieyasu’s fourth son), the lord of Kiyosu Castle, who was worried about his poor health, and is also designated as an Important Cultural Property.
